Week 4: The Call of Abram
Week 4 Overview
After the scattering at Babel, the camera pulls tight on one family: Terah, his son Abram, and their household. When God speaks to Abram with an impossible promise, the entire trajectory of Scripture pivots. This week we witness the birth of the covenant story — a call to leave everything, a staggering promise, and a faith that is tested from the very first step.
Weekly Memory Verse
“Now the LORD said to Abram, ‘Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.’” — Genesis 12:1 (ESV)

Background
The name “Abram” means “exalted father” — an ironic name for a man whose wife is barren. God’s promise of countless descendants is spoken into that irony. Ur of the Chaldees, Abram’s home, was one of the most sophisticated cities of the ancient world — making the call to leave all the more striking.
